What Is Inflammation?

We are hearing more and more about inflammation these days.  Remedies to flush, cure and reduce inflammation are popping up everywhere.  But what exactly is inflammation and why should we be so concerned about it?

If you’ve ever heard me talk about inflammation you’ve probably heard me say “inflammation is the root of all evil.”  Something I truly believe, especially when it comes to chronic inflammation. Something many of us suffer from and don’t even realize.

There are two types of inflammation; acute and chronic.

Acute inflammation is the way our body responds to a cut or injury, sometimes even just working out can cause acute inflammation.  This can certainly be uncomfortable but not always something to worry about.  It’s a natural reaction and for most of us our body will rush in to repair the issue in no time. 

Chronic inflammation is much more serious and not just a symptom but also the cause of much illness and disease.  We see inflammation flare up in the form of digestive issues, chronic pain in our backs, necks shoulders etc., arthritis and joint pain, autoimmune disease, migraines, the list goes on.

There’s a bit of a chicken and egg situation here as to what comes first.  In my opinion there is usually a trigger which causes acute inflammation and then without treatment the acute inflammation turns to chronic inflammation causing much bigger issues.

For example:  I get stress migraines.  When we break this down further we can see the cycle is as follows:  Stress causes me to hold tension in my back and neck which leads to inflammation.   This acute inflammation goes untreated, more stress piles on, the inflammation becomes chronic inflammation and the end result for me is an awful migraine.

It’s so important for us to understand inflammation; the root of it and the best ways to prevent and treat it.

The most effective ways I have found to treat inflammation are through diet, meditation and cryotherapy. Hence the reason I created Renew Juicery Wellness Center; offering anti-inflammatory juices, medicinal almond mylks and whole body cryotherapy.
